One of One — Vintage L.L.Bean Boat and Tote
Some totes have a print on them. This one has a history — and now it has art on top of it too.
This piece started as a vintage L.L.Bean Boat and Tote, found in a long-discontinued red-and-natural colorway. We cleaned, conditioned, and repaired it before a single stitch went on, so what you're getting is a bag with a real past and a brand new reason to carry it.
The front is anchored by a fully needle-painted cowgirl and her rearing paint horse — hat in the air, mid-celebration, stitched thread by thread so the flying mane, the tooled saddle, and the yellow tack all read like brushwork instead of embroidery. Around her we built out the rest of the story: a Not My First Rodeo patch in sunset red and gold, a sky-blue Rodeo Bound felt pennant with its own bronc rider riding the top edge, and a scatter of good-luck flash — lightning bolt, cherries, a starburst, and a black spade tucked around toward the side seam. A leather horse head charm hangs from a brass clip at the handle, finished with a fringe of vintage red bandana.
One of One means exactly that: the only piece we made like this. Once it's gone, it won't be made again.
