These aren't tote bags with embroidery on them.
They're art pieces that happen to have handles.

Every design starts as its own idea — a coastal scene, a hand-drawn crest, a full composition built stitch by stitch. We don't design a tote and run a thousand of them. A Wild Thread tote isn't a SKU. It's a piece.

Some are made once and never again. Others come in small numbered runs — and since every piece is built individually, no two are ever quite identical. Every bag is stocked as-is, ready to take home today. When a run sells out, that piece doesn't come back. What comes back is the next idea.

That's the trade: less flexibility, more soul. Design-your-own still lives online. This line is for the person who walks by a shelf and falls in love with something that already exists.

Rodeo Bound Tote

This one has a front and a back, and they're two different days. One is the horse. The other is everything you pack to go see him.

We started with a brand-new L.L.Bean Boat and Tote in tan trim — a warm neutral that lets the bay coat and the saddle leather do the talking.

The front is a portrait: a bay horse rendered nearly life-size in long-stitch shading, forelock falling over one eye, white blaze down the face. Around him sit a blue rodeo pennant, a tattoo-style bluebird, a tooled boot with a spur, a horseshoe, a butterfly with bronc riders in its wings, and a "Not My First Rodeo" speech bubble — because once wasn't enough.

Flip it and you get the fairgrounds. A navy felt "Rodeo Bound" pennant with a suede header and a bronc rider runs corner to corner, under a "Long Live Cowgirls — Wild and Free" badge. Sheriff stars, a stack of boots in pink and blush, a brown felt hat, and a cactus fill in around it.

One of One means exactly that: the only piece we made like this. Once it's gone, it won't be made agai

The Pop

Some totes have a print on them. This one has an entire moment.

This piece starts from a brand-new CB Station — a clean canvas with no history yet but the one we're about to give it.

A bottle of brut lies across the front on the diagonal, teal and gold, cork already gone — and the spray runs up and off toward the corner in cream and metallic gold, foam and droplets stitched mid-air like nobody's getting out of this dry. The cork is still tumbling above it, a Caviar medallion in cobalt and gold sits below the splash, and a compass rose charm and a Champagne Problems Only leather tag hang off the handle in blush and gold.

Wild One

Made once. There isn't another. One of One. CB Station, New

For the one who was never going to blend in. A lion's head fills the center in dense shaded pink thread, from hot magenta through blush to white, mane laid in strand by strand so it reads as texture rather than fill. A Wild One cloud patch sits just above him, a pink lips patch tips in from the left, and the right side carries a tall iced cocktail with citrus and mint, a gold lightning bolt, a SMILE nameplate, a pink stiletto, and one script patch that speaks for itself. Across the bottom band, BORN RARE, STAYING THAT WAY in red and gold. A brass chain runs down the left with a gold-outlined pink butterfly and a pastel suede tassel in pink, blue, and cream. Natural canvas with pink trim and pink handles.

Made once. Each piece is finished individually, so small differences in placement and coloration are part of the work.

“Vintage bags, new stories. Every One of One starts somewhere.”

  • <h3>Thirty Years in the Making</h3>

    Thirty Years in the Making

Every design starts with three decades of embroidery experience — this isn't a new craft applied to bags, it's an old one finally given somewhere better to live.

  • Never Purchased, Always Made

We don't buy patches online and press them on. Every patch is designed, digitized, and stitched in-house, then sewn onto the bag for permanence — nothing here is ironed or glued.

  • <h3>No Two Are Alike </h3>

    No Two Are Alike

Because a person makes every decision on every piece, no two totes ever come out exactly the same — even within the same design.

  • <h3>Vintage or New, Every Piece Starts Somewhere</h3>

Vintage or New, Every Piece Starts Somewhere

Some totes begin as vintage L.L.Bean bags we track down one at a time. Others start brand new. Either way, the story starts before we ever pick up a needle.

  • <p></p><h3><strong>Signed, Numbered, Yours Alone</strong></h3>

    Signed, Numbered, Yours Alone

Every piece ships with a signed hang tag naming it, its edition, and its story — a small certificate that this one is really one of one.

  • Through Six Pairs of Hands

By the time a piece ships, it's passed through five or six people who all care about getting it right. That's what you're actually taking home.

FAQ's

Here are some answers to the questions we get asked all the time. This isn't a normal store, so it comes with a few normal-sounding questions that actually need real answers — like why a bag that sold last week isn't coming back, or why the same design costs more on one tote than another. Below are the ones we hear most, from how each piece is made to what happens once it sells out.Don't see what you're looking for? Reach out directly — we'd rather just tell you than have you guess.

What does "One of One" mean?

It means exactly that — this piece was made once, and it won't be made again. Once it sells, that specific design is retired for good.

What's a Small Edition?

A limited-quantity run of pieces sharing the same design — the exact number can vary by piece. Because every piece is finished individually, no two in the run are ever quite identical — a different charm, a substituted patch, a small coloration shift.

Are these bags vintage or new?

Both, depending on the piece. Many start as vintage L.L.Bean Boat and Totes we source individually — some decades old, some just a few years old — cleaned, conditioned, and repaired before any embroidery goes on. Others start from a brand-new L.L.Bean Boat and Tote for a pristine canvas. The listing for each piece notes which one it is.

Can I request a specific tote or design?

Not for this line — One of One and Small Edition pieces are sold as-is, in the combination they were made in. If you're looking to build something to your own spec, the Design Your Own tool is the place for that.

Why do prices vary between pieces?

Pricing depends on the
base tote and its size. L.L.Bean Boat and Totes and larger sizes are priced
slightly higher than CB Station totes, on top of the usual factors like how
much embroidery and how many patches or charms a piece carries. Vintage L.L.Bean
Boat and Totes often carry the highest prices of all — rare vintage Boat and
Totes are in real demand right now, and that demand is reflected in the price.
The same design on a vintage base typically runs about 30% higher than it would
on a new one.

What's included when my tote arrives?

A kraft box, a signed
hang tag naming the piece and its edition, and a swag bag with a postcard, a
sticker sheet, a care card, and a mystery patch.

Can I buy more than one piece from the same Small Edition?

Yes, as long as pieces
from that run are still available — check the badge on the listing for how many
are left.

Do sold-outpieces ever come back?

No — once a One of One
or a full Small Edition run sells out, that exact piece doesn't return. You can
browse everything that's already sold in the Archive, and sign up for drop
alerts to hear about the next one.
