Take the long way home. A single butterfly, stitched oversized across the front panel and spread wide over both handles like it landed there mid-flight and decided to stay. The wings move from pale sky blue at the tips into deep cobalt and sea green at the center, the colors of a coastline seen from somewhere high up. Gold metallic thread traces every edge and curls through the wings in filigree scrollwork, with white swirls breaking through like light on water. Look closely at the lower wings and you'll find a pair of tiny gold-outlined lips, a little kiss hidden in the pattern. The body is worked entirely in gold, and the whole piece catches the light differently every time you pick it up.
Set against natural canvas and garden-green trim, it reads like a summer you don't want to end: somewhere along the coast, a long lunch, nowhere to be.
