Moving In Stereo
New L.L. Bean Boat & Tote · One of One
Press play. Don’t look back.
A full-size boombox, stitched big across the front panel, with its carry handle stretched clean over the bag’s own handles like it’s ready to be hoisted onto a shoulder. The body is worked in black and layered greys with shimmering silver metallic thread through the speaker cones, the tuning dial, and the trim. Twin speakers, a STEREO band across the top, a row of buttons, and a cassette sitting dead center in the deck, already rewound to the good part. It’s the one that owned the block every summer and still has the best sound in the room.
Off to the side, a classical marble bust in grey and white, eyes covered by a red velvet bar. Some people need to see it. Some people just need to hear it.
Around it, the stuff that collects on a mixtape bag:
- A green street sign reading Luck Div. 13, for the corner where it all started
- A white route shield reading WT 28227, a nod to home, stitched in our Charlotte studio
- A volume meter with the needle buried in the red, because that’s where it belongs
The details
- One of One: this arrangement will not be stitched again
- Medium canvas tote in natural canvas with red trim and reinforced handles
- Five original embroidered pieces, hand-placed and stitched down in our Charlotte studio
